Rabbi Noam and Shiffy Friedman have been the directors of OU-JLIC Mizrachi at Reichman University in Herzliya since August 2022. They spent the previous eight years as directors of OU-JLIC at Columbia University/Barnard College, where they supported hundreds of students in building and sustaining a vibrant Jewish life on campus. Together with their three children, they are thrilled to now be growing a thriving young community in Israel together with passionate undergraduates, graduate students, professionals, chayalim and benot sherut, and recent olim.
Rabbi Noam Friedman spent two years in Israel studying at Yeshivat Torat Shraga and Yeshivat Har Etzion, and studied at Yeshiva University for a BA in psychology, an MA in medieval Jewish history, and rabbinic ordination. He has spent many summers on staff at Camp Moshava in bucolic Indian Orchard, PA. Rav Noam loves hiking and competitive word games, and also bears a peculiar fondness for maps.
Shiffy Friedman received her BA in Jewish Studies from Stern College after spending a year studying in Israel at Migdal Oz. She received a dual MA in Education and Jewish studies from NYU and taught in day schools in the New York area for over a decade. She is a certified Yoetzet Halacha through Nishmat’s Miriam Glaubach Center and has taught dozens of kallot in preparation for marriage, and counseled women of all ages in issues relating to Jewish family life in her capacity as Yoetzet Halacha in several New York area communities.
